Who are we?
We are proactive group of Jefferson County citizens who successfully campaigned to authorize our Public Utility District to acquire the electric grid from a commercial power company. We were the first county in Washington State since 1949 to successfully campaign to acquire our electric distribution grid.
What are we striving to accomplish?
Since the 2008 initiative campaign we have continued to meet for the express purpose of educating our citizens about alternative, renewable, sustainable forms of energy including solar, wind, tidal and others along with ways to improve end user conservation and efficiency in their homes and businesses
How can we do this?
Since our successful campaign, our current activities involve hosting and sponsoring educational events intended to educate our constituency with exhibits and presentations given by nationally recognized experts in the energy field.
In November 2010, we held an event with Jack Robertson, Executive Director of the Northwest Hydrogen Alliance. Jack's engaging presentation involved Ammonia Fuel Hubs for synthesizing, capturing and storing hydrogen in the form of anhydrous ammonia
Why are we doing this?
There are many reasons we should consider managing our own local utility: Local control, local jobs, local conservation and local renewable energy and its associated jobs.
